Stefano Bombardieri
HELP, 2008
4 light box, 70x50x10cm
The work Help by Brescia-based artist Stefano Bombardieri is an incitement to observe better, to pay more attention to the issues related to sustainable development and pollution. Being much more than a mere invitation “to look” at things, this work is a request “to see” things. The shape and size of the four eye charts made by the artist remind people of those charts used to test eye-sight, which set one beside the other create the word HELP. The repetition of the four letters (H E L P) transforms this word into a real howl, a symbol of the environment’s desperate request for help from mankind, and a way to let this latter reflect on alarming topics instead of “turning a blind eye” to them.
