Saul Zanolari
READY TO BORN, 2006
Lambda print on glossy paper, 100x100cm
Relying on a technique which goes beyond ordinary expressive languages, artist Saul Zanolari amazes the audience with a mixture of photography, painting and digital drawing used as a means to present subjects that, even if portrayed with witty irony, witness today’s dramatic changes. In the piece Ready to born the artist creates a disturbing yet cruel vision of a cute blonde-haired child locked into a washing machine desperately asking for help while the disquieting writing Help me appears on the wet window of the washing machine door. Standing as a metaphor for the younger generation, the child seems to sink into the water, natural element brutally controlled by a washing machine, symbol of technology often manipulated by men. Providing the audience with a highly provocative vision, Zanolari’s work seems to point out that man-made interventions often are not just bad for the environment but also for the whole humankind.
