The collage works of Croatian artist Lara Usic are the visual reminders of the flowing of time that generate the natural rhythm characterizing the evolution of matter. Her necropolis of memories made of remains of walls, posters randomly found in the streets, as well as various materials is a display of emotions, marks and traces. In this mixture of materials, trash is not the subject of the artist’s pieces: it is the artworks’ own language. The artist’s style is brilliant and outspoken; her personal touch determines the materials she uses in her work and enriches them with new meaning. This shows the delicate syncretism existing between the past and the present, between what is useless and therefore has been discarded and what acquires a new form.
