Giancarlo Scagnolari

REPETITION, 2008

Thermoplastic honeycomb and electroluminescent fiber, 20sqm

The works of young artist Giancarlo Scagnolari are evocative and spectacular installations activated by the presence of light. Light is the major means of expression used in Scagnolari ‘s sculptural installations that remind the viewer of Arte Povera and of one of his most representative figures, Mario Merz. The work exhibited on this occasion is made of a thermoplastic honeycomb used to diffuse the light that receives from the environment. The visual effect is similar to the luminescence emanated by a prism refracting light. Illuminated fibers create a landscape made of lights characterized by circumvolutions repeated obsessively, and by a vision in which time and space are harmonically combined.
